After a discussion with a family member today….I ask this: For those readers who have their own blogs…..do your parents/family members read it….or even know about it? If so, what’s the reaction?

My husband reads mine daily and loves it.
My father reads it occasionally for shits and giggles.
My FIL stopped reading it when I expressed my desire to own an outrageously-priced piece of furniture. He’s a practical man.
The scariest thing is when a co-worker mentions reading something your wrote…and you didn’t tell them about the blog.
Well family, that’s a whole other longer story.
my mom and auntie say sweet, encouraging things which i don’t mind. and if you knew my mom, i’m no longer exasperated when she tells total strangers “my daughter is an artist and has a blog!” my husband too but i think he just wants to keep tabs on my secret life
My brother occasionally reads it and leaves stupid snarky comments. I have it linked to my facebook, so parents, inlaws, etc, often read it. It makes me nervous sometimes, and I tend to self censor a bit. But I used to be a high school teacher and I may want to get back in the game someday, so I probably should self censor, anyway.
My family really doesn’t get it, except my aunt who thinks the fact that I’ve started a blog is the coolest thing ever and has all her coworkers reading it regularly now, which I think is cute.
I posted my first few posts on facebook, figuring people who would really care would continue to read it. Pretty sure no other family members have bothered checking back, but that’s just how they are.
My boyfriend is big into privacy which makes it difficult because much of what I post about is the DIY and before/after stuff we’ve done to our house so I have to refer to him in a generic way.
Looks like we are all over the shop…some don’t get it, some couldn’t be prouder. At least we have each other, right? Thanks for sharing.
I definitely self-censor because my graphic design clients read my blog. I actually started a graphic design/typography blog so they wouldn’t keep asking “why are you leaving graphic design to become an interior designer?” But my heart just isn’t in that one and I haven’t posted anything new since January! Like Erin, eye spy links to facebook and I pull the post when I think my facebook family/friends won’t get it or would think I’ve lost my mind when I’m crazy in love with a piece of furniture.
Nope… the boyfriend is the only one who knows. I just don’t think that people who don’t read blogs would understand one.
