Kenny Loggins was the first thing my eyes landed on when I walked in.  I took this as a good sign that this might be a good day of junkin’.  He, who popularized the parachute prison jumpsuit as high fashion, stood as a beacon to all who entered.

This was only $2, and I should have dragged it home, but it was super rusty and I had visions of it sitting in my garage for 3 years waiting for the CC to pour a concrete top for it, like this….

Oh well, someone will do something fun with those legs I hope.

These stools looked new, but someone could tweak them a bit to give them that little sumtin’ sumtin’.

Some say Vintage Vultures, some say Lucky Buzzards.  THIS guy is exactly why I adore the flea.

The pair of Nelson headboards wasn’t going to last long, but I just don’t have room in the booth and I don’t need them…but aren’t they lovely?  This lighted bedside table is a piece I had never seen before.  If it hadn’t been packaged with the headboards I’d have snatched it up.

I grabbed my camera as I was rushing out the door and I had the zoom lens on…this proved very difficult in tight spaces, like here, where I couldn’t get far enough back to get a full shot.  I hate it when I do dumbass things like that.

So what did I get?

A bench,

…and a super groovy vintage lamp for the booth…the pale part of the base has a bulb in it so it glows when lit.

…two desk lamps and this nightstand.  I’m beside myself excited about this nightstand….check it…

American of Martinsville solid wood goodness needs some cleaning and refinishing, but she will GLEAM when she’s done…GLEAM I tell you.

A successful couple of days after the junkin’ drought of late.  Now to attend some social gatherings involving the required grills and beer to kick off a nice long weekend.  Have a great holiday everyone!

OK, so the chandy is not my style at all, but I bought it for the booth.  It’s more in line with the mainstream market here.  It’s thick with dust and I wasn’t planning to paint it, but on closer inspection, I am considering it.

Can we get to the good part now?  The CHAIRS!  Yipee!

These 70′s lovelies were sitting on the front porch of a Victorian house looking so lonely and out of place.  Come to mama.

The chrome is needing love, and they must be recovered, but I can do both myself, so that’s just time.

I stopped and bought some Coke Zero under the guise of chair cleaning.  I’ve been trying to stop drinking those damn things for years now.  THEY REMOVE RUST after all! I make it a few weeks, then I fall off the wagon.

My attraction to chrome furniture and accessories that need rehabbing is enabling my addiction to diet soda.  This is not good for me, but it’s great for the house.  “Did you hear about that lady who lives on the hill?  She crumbled from phosphoric acid leaching all the calcium out of her bones, so she just became a shmooo…but her house looks great.  Really shiny furniture.”

Oh, and the flea is this weekend and I feel like I haven’t been in for. ever.  Chrome anyone?

1) It was freezing, which requires gloves off for shooting pics.

2) I’m supposed to be on a break.

3) I’m lazy.

I bought some fun things for the booth, and for the house, and some things that will begin their limbo test drive phase.  You know, you bring it home and start to reconsider selling it, so you leave it in the house for a few weeks as a trial run.  If it makes you smile when you walk past it..it stays.  Well, until something better comes along…

I think after I pop the paint by number out and redo the frame..I will not want to let it go…another for the limbo set…

Keeping this box as a super stylish pencil holder for my desk….

The lacquer set was still wrapped in plastic and never even used….methinks this will add a little pan-asian panache to Dim Sunday.

All the Asian stuff came from this crazy estate sale.  Packed to the ceiling with goodies from Japan and Germany, where they lived for 30 years.  I’ve never seen so much lacquer and spingerle molds in one place- such a contrast of cultures.  I could have nosed around there all day.

Will I ever tire of agate?

She told me I was nuts to sell it, and I, being of weak constitution, took that as all the encouragement I needed to steal it from MYSELF.  Within seconds, that baby was in my purse faster than you can say Winona Ryder.

You can see why I resorted to petty theft…no?  I had paid a hefty $10 for it at an estate sale.

To make you feel a little better, I also got this (another hard to photograph glass piece)..for $3.50.

It’s got a pale purplish hue on the edges with gold and silver speckles…and I SWEAR I paid for it.

Things have otherwise been very un-blogworthy around here, lots of cabinet and closet organization…cuz I know you’re dying to see me clean out under the kitchen sink.  I’m planning on getting back to the tour soon now that I can actually find some things around here.

First up was this pair of chairs I picked up for the booth.  They needed the lipstick.. some light peeling paint, but no rust and no sandblasting required…YAY. Recovered the seats with a staple gun and this project was done in a couple of hours.

I needed an injection of spring into the booth and I think these will do the trick.

Got a couple of new lamps going in too.

It’s still a bit sparse, but I’d rather hold stuff back than to let it get cluttered. It needs more…but not too much more. I have to give Morgan at the Brick House a shout out since I copied her furry bench job. I wanted to use Icelandic sheepskin, you know, the really long hairy kind, sometimes referred to as “troll hair”?  Well, it’s too pricey for this project, so I went to TJ Maxx and bought a throw of faux fur for $40 and took a seam ripper and scissors to it.  I covered 2 stools, with some left over for another project. I really love the touch of color on the tips of the fur.  I’m only putting one furry stool in the booth at a time…don’t want to look like the “fur booth”.

Today I went to add some more items and someone bought the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree I had as decoration!  I debated whether to put a price on it, but I know how much I hate it when things aren’t marked, so I did…figures!  I’ll go get another one this weekend.

For those wondering how this shakes out…My little wedge of 71″ x 82″ x 31.5″ costs me $95 a month.  They showed me another booth that was big and nice, but it was $200…too much pressure.  The mall takes 10% and pays all sales tax for me.  They’ll take my rent out of my sales (when there are enough sales).  I’m keeping a spreadsheet of inventory to help me keep up with things.  Phew…the goal was to be open by the weekend and I made it.  Tired.

It’s an antique dive…just the way I like ‘em…dusty, dingy and obnoxiously loud when the trains roll by 4 feet from the building.  It’s packed with treasures.  I’ve only lived here a year and a half, but in my wanderings thus far, this place has the best vintage modern selection in town.  Pre to Post Modern ties for grooviness of merchandise, but it’s tiny with a very limited selection.  Yes, I’m biased, but that’s why I wanted these guys to let me play with them…I figured I’d fit in best there.

This week I will put some lipstick on her and fill her up.  Formerly a 40′s-50′s kitchen booth, that teal and yellow must go.  I get great natural light in this little wedge which is pretty rare, given what a dark warehouse it is overall.  I’m pretty lucky.

Thing Two will certainly think I’m Booth # SO.  Poi-fect.
