This is just a preview…
I walked into a sale this weekend, and I started to twitch and shake when I saw this….
When I started loading it and realized it opens up to this…
I died. I want to throw myself on it like Tawny Kitaen in a Whitesnake video….damn that thing is sexy. It’s missing 4 pieces of glass that will be promptly ordered tomorrow. I gave it the Coke and Noxon treatment already for maximum shiny.
Sorry for the crap photos…I clearly couldn’t think straight.
More later.

I totally understand your twitchies and shakies. That is GLORIOUS.
It’s the Transformers of 1970s brass deliciousness!
They have one of these at the Phoenix Flea Market In old Hickory as well I’m sure you’ve been there I’ve found a lot of good crap there including a giant ppp p-eanut!!
Bri-I haven’t been there yet, but you bet your ass I’m making it a priority! Thanks for the nudge..I’ve lived here 2 years and still haven’t gone..the shame!
Wow.
I’ve lived here 10 and I’ve yet to trust myself at any of these. Oh to borrow your trained eye some day.
WOWSERS!
That is ba-nanas! How much? You win!!!!
$70….
OMG! Excellent! Love it!
i think we all just died a little.
tawny kitaen reference= awesome.
Are you kidding me? This is AMAZING! Why do I never find things like this? It’s a thing of beauty.
HOLY CATS I know that bookcase! There was one just like it in the living room set of my favorite childhood TV show “227″ (best sassy black lady show EVER)
Stumbled in following a comment on design sponge…love your blog. Good stuff, I’ll be back!
Love. Love. Love.
I’ve been haunting my local craigslist posts looking for something similar for my tv room.
Also, @peaches is awesome for bringing up 227. I should see if they have that on Hulu.
Be still my heart. I want I wanttttttt.
Awesome find! I second the Phoenix flea market tip. Love that place!
I have one available in Portland, OR for $50 – It’s in perfect condition!
That’s a great deal David! Too bad I don’t have room for two!
I can’t believe I found this link! I just found the exact same piece with the glass shelves at my local thrift store in So.Cal. I was debating it but this put me over the edge. It’s only $100 at the store. Thanks for sharing the cleaning technique!
Have you found anything about the history/designer of the piece since purchasing it?
sadly no new info…but if you find anything…please share!
