Since I’m in super nesting mode….(which is kinda wigging me out…you’d think I was knocked-up again)…I decided it’s time to purge some more clutter. This is not any ordinary clutter my friends, but the sacred back issues of (RIP) Domino, Blueprint plus years of Dwell. I can’t keep all this stuff. It takes up a lot of room, is very heavy and is making me feel like a hoarder…so why am I so sad? I should feel liberated! I will when it’s done, but tossing out these lovely tattered, dogeared and flagged pages of goodness causes a slight tightening in my chest. Yes, I AM that kind of LOSER. So I’m spending a little time, each day, in my favorite chair… going through pile after pile and trug after trug and tearing out what I can cling to. Farewell my lovelies…..
Oh my, I just saw this on Apartment Therapy and I’m seriously digging it. I was so afraid of the dark cabinets that I really wanted in the kitchen because of my dark floors…how wrong I was…it would have worked! AND…she has the live edge wood bars and backsplashes I so want to put into the RB’s bathroom….swoon. I hope they hire her.
With the chill in the air, I can’t help but get into nesting mode. Even though the landscaping is due to start Monday (yay!) I’m looking forward to a cozy fall in front of the fire at the Regal Beagle.
I haven’t shown a whole lot inside yet because, it’s just not there. That said…it’s ALWAYS a work in progress with me so it’s never really ever going to be there. I kinda suck at vignettes, so I rearrange them constantly. I’m still sorting out which furniture really works in this house and what needs to go. I still have boxes in closets, not nearly enough bookshelves and an endless list of things to get done, but that’s just the way it is.

crowded shelves
The lack of multiple bookshelves in the house is causing major overcrowding since I have to have access to my books. You would die at how jammed and crammed those cabinets below are with books. In due time.

Since I know someone will ask, the painting over the fireplace is by Laurie Nye. It makes me happy every time I look at it and I think it’s what saves the room for me when I get in a rut with it.
My blinding princess chair isn’t working in that corner, but aside from moving it to another room..I’m feeling stuck. The Flototto pieces flanking the fireplace are destined to replace the buffet in the dining room so I can’t get too used to them there. I think the room would look great with a retro sectional, but that’s not in the budget at the mo, so my couches are fine, and luckily, comfortable for now.
More RB LR
The chaos that will be the next few weeks with bobcats and concrete trucks will have me focused back outside, but I do enjoy a little pre-season nesting and dreaming.
Much better. I had planned to create a photo wall above the buffet, but didn’t like how the others were working with Blurb’s photo. I’ve had this Walter Inglis Anderson print for years and decided it needed a facelift. New frames can be as fulfilling as a new paint job in a room…it changes everything.
Southerners know Walter Anderson..especially in the Delta, but if you haven’t heard of him…check him out. The Museum is still struggling to save much of the work damaged in Hurricane Katrina, and the best variety of his work is sold by his family here.  I’ve been toying with getting a print of one of my old favorites…Water Spouts, but in looking around, I noticed Wild Orchid, which I hadn’t remembered seeing before. The nature drawings have always been my favorites and I truly love so many of them.

Fun for froogs….and the whole family…for only $11! The ring game is rumored to have been invented by Ernest Hemingway in Bimini many moons ago, and the Highlands, NC based company that sells them is sticking with that story. True or not, the game is addictive and able to be played by anyone tall enough to reach the ring…grab a stool and the toddler can probably play too. Just swing the ring until you hook it…or not.
