Mud Rivers and Wet Feet

The rain is just relentless.  Moving all that dirt in combination with all that rain….yeah…my driveway is a muddy river.  Yesterday, the gang managed to get the concrete footers poured right as the next wave of the Nashville monsoon moved in…so we have some wet, muddy concrete footers right now.  If it ever stops raining, maybe we’ll get some walls built, but I’m not optimistic it will be this week.  On the bright side…my Dogwood is handling the transplant pretty well with all that water to drink.

And So It Begins….

Buh Bye rotten entry.  You will not be missed.

Monday…rained out.  Tuesday, rained out after 2 hours.  Wednesday….hooray it’s dry!  Rotten wood was removed with the discovery of a corn snake and the biggest yellow jacket ground hive any of us have EVER seen.  As bad as that hive was….I was expecting some more heinous discoveries in the snake category.

My precious Dogwood is supposed to be transplanted today..I really hope it survives.

Entry

Before I pack up my summer vignette to make way for ravens and spider webs, I figured I should document a little before and after.

It’s easy to forget how it was until you go through the old photos…after all, that’s why I started this thing… so for once, we can have proof of how much we did when it all goes fuzzy.

I hate storm doors as a rule, but with no overhang, there isn’t really a choice.  Building a small overhang could work, but we don’t want it to distract from the architecture. Until we get that figured out,  I’m stuck on any other ways to get rid of the door without creating a massive moisture problem.

Her console was actually pretty great up close.

The painting is by Bob Burdette.  The buffet I found down in Franklin for $300…they HATE deco and mid century down there so it’s all good for me.

Eh.

With the chill in the air, I can’t help but get into nesting mode.  Even though the landscaping is due to start Monday (yay!) I’m looking forward to a cozy fall in front of the fire at the Regal Beagle.

I haven’t shown a whole lot inside yet because, it’s just not there.  That said…it’s ALWAYS a work in progress with me so it’s never really ever going to be there.  I kinda suck at vignettes, so I rearrange them constantly.  I’m still sorting out which furniture really works in this house and what needs to go.  I still have boxes in closets, not nearly enough bookshelves and an endless list of things to get done, but that’s just the way it is.

The lack of multiple bookshelves in the house is causing major overcrowding since I have to have access to my books.  You would die at how jammed and crammed those cabinets below are with books.  In due time.

Since I know someone will ask, the painting over the fireplace is by Laurie Nye.  It makes me happy every time I look at it and I think it’s what saves the room for me when I get in a rut with it.

My blinding princess chair isn’t working in that corner, but aside from moving it to another room..I’m feeling stuck.  The Flototto pieces flanking the fireplace are destined to replace the buffet in the dining room so I can’t get too used to them there.  I think the room would look great with a retro sectional, but that’s not in the budget at the mo, so my couches are fine, and luckily, comfortable for now.

The chaos that will be the next few weeks with bobcats and concrete trucks will have me focused back outside, but I do enjoy a little pre-season nesting and dreaming.
