Flea Market Friday

Ran into Kathy at Gen’s sale (I got some really cute stuff, and YES, her house IS as fab as it looks in pictures) and we decided to hit the flea together!  Here’s what we saw….

These bookends were supposed to be cheaper, or they’d have been mine.  Couldn’t confirm that they were Ben Seibel or not as they had felted the bottoms, but I think they are. The dealer didn’t know anything about them, but she knew they were awesome enough to be $95.

Ben…you should have come home with me at half the price.  I wanted these peachy tables too, but at $135 with chipped laminate all over…I don’t think so.

I had no plans to get anything..I’m up to my ears in projects, but then I saw it…..

What have we here? A vintage barkcloth wall hanging in pristine condition, destined for my dining room. It had 2 labels still on it….

…..and I LOVE it.

I oiled up the wood and hung her immediately. Here’s some detail…

As I walked through the market, several people asked to see what I had rolled up over my shoulder, they all thought it might be a vintage map, but it was SO much better!

I also got these brass tulip candle holders, I don’t know where they are going yet, I’ll have to shuffle some things.

Have a great weekend!!!

Real Estalking

When we found out we were getting transferred to Nashville, I checked this site run by a realtor featuring modern homes almost daily. While modern digs are few and far between here, I was determined to find an ugly, unloved one we could afford…we got very, very lucky.

Every 6 months or so I pop back in to see what’s on the “modern market” and today I saw one of my absolute favorite Nashville homes is up for sale. I had to share it with you because it is spectacular.  Designed by Kanner Architects in LA, this home was featured around the interwebs when completed and I first glimpsed inside via Design Milk.  The listing is here with more photos here. Warning, the 2nd listing has piano music if you’re in an office etc..

While the interior styling is not my personal taste, the house is amazing and worth a look-see.  With a price tag of $3,200,000.00, it’s a Lottery Pick for sure.

Most photos by Nicolas O.S. Marques, others-unknown source (probably realtor).

Spring Fever

It’s that time of year…the seed catalogs start showing up and I get spring fever bigtime. It doesn’t help that my plants are confused by the mild winter and everything is budding out. I predict the blooms will open on these Pear branches by Friday, latest.

It’s 60 degrees today, and we had snow over the weekend, with more predicted this coming weekend. Today is my window…it is time to prune the horsetail rush or Equisetum Hymale. I didn’t prune it last winter and I think it showed by blowing over so easily. Now it is laying down completely flat and it’s time to hack it to the ground.  This is how it looked when I first put it in.

And this is how it looked today.  So sad.

I couldn’t find the electric hedge trimmer in the garage chaos, so I had to go old school with the shears. FUN!

Hopefully it will return reinvigorated and upright, like the picture I showed you when I first decided to go for this stuff.  By all accounts, it should, so fingers crossed!
