Sale Preview

I thought I’d drag out a few things this week to show what will be at the Sale on Saturday.  First up..a little chair pair DIY.  You guys remember these?

The cushions were not cushions anymore and had dry rotted….ew.

I had some green velvet that I liked with the chrome…so it was showtime.  I had to start from scratch with the cushions.  Nothing salvageable there.

And now they will be available for someone to enjoy.

and just a few other items that will be available….

That’s all for today…I hope some of you can make it!  Looks like the weather will be outstanding..phew!

Flea Market Review

I’m sorry my flea post is too late to give any locals a preview-it’s more of a review, I’m afraid, BUT, there’s a really good reason I’m late.  I had 2 fabulous friends come into town this weekend to hit the flea with me and we were having way too much fun to hang out on the interwebs.

The one that I let get away.  I just couldn’t drag home another project this large when the garage is full of stuff for The Sale.  The fiberglass was in very salvageable shape.  It was lovely and should have been mine, in an other place and time.

After the flea, we hit the antique malls and junk stores…and at the end of the day, we felt kinda like this….

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I know I did.  But, I must sleep now.  Late nights at Camp Vågö have whipped my wimpy ass.

Preview week starts tomorrow…so much to do, so little time.

Hype That Was Hella Hairy

Yes, I obviously fell prey to Missonigeddon yesterday and I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like it.

People were dragging 2 and sometimes 3 carts around while on the phone to a cohort at another store discussing which items they need MORE of to make a set of 12.  I saw Kathy as I just wandered around the store wide eyed..she seemed to share my sense of shock about the whole thing!

I got there about 8:20 and I didn’t see a single person in the store that didn’t have hoards of Missoni in their cart.  No one was buying toothpaste that morning (except me), and there were several items I never saw.  Either my store didn’t stock it, or it was already sold out.

I got a couple of votive holders, which are gorgeous when lit.

And apparently, the hottest item in my cart was a pair of these, since several people ogled them and asked if I was sure I was going to get them.

The dressing room was kinda hilarious..everyone was coming out into the aisles modeling their wares for each other since every rejected item had a line of people waiting for a turn to try it on…

The staff was truly shell shocked.  They just kept saying over and over, “I had NO IDEA it was going to be like this…”

Yes, my friend, I’m sure when you walked into work this morning, you had no idea that as you frantically unpacked boxes, there would be a platinum haired, diamond encrusted vulture standing on top of you waiting to snatch it from your trembling hands.

They clearly hadn’t been mentally or physically prepared for Missonigeddon.

Don’t even get me started on the prices this stuff is selling for on ebay.  Capitalism can be very ugly at times.

Switcheroo

I’ve been mixing some things up around here and forgetting to share.  Remember how I knew there was too much tulip going on in the living room?  I think I might have solved that little problem.

That’s right, he SWIVELS his layers….shall we call him the Swinger?

I also found a place for the Sexophone…..

Oh, and remember my pair of vintage chairs that I love love love so much? Turns out they are a bit dangerous in the house.

Yup.  Those front support bars blend in with the dark floors and had become a huge maiming hazard.  I can’t have pretty chairs that hurt my people, so they moved out and we have enjoyed them on the deck where we can see those bars better.

In their place is a pair of swiveling rattan chairs that had been in Thing Two’s bedroom.  Not as pretty as the others, but far friendlier on the toes and way more practical for the upcoming fire season.  Now we can swivel towards the flames, or the couch…flames, couch…

So, I think that’s it for now.  I’ve updated the tour with the latest changes.

Joining forces with these creative chickas is going to make for one seriously fun day….I hope you can join us for funsies and pick up some goodies for your pad and bod!

I’ll preview a few items that will be for sale as we get closer to the date.  I moved out of Booth 50 (sad) this week, so some of those items will at the sale, along with several new items…so stay tuned…

Friday Flea

Another sweaty flea, but a good day.

This lamp was a dreamboat…but too pricey.

I’d love to see who brings this home…..frat house?

OK…can we discuss these?  I’ve never seen these in “caucasian.”  Blackamoor figurines are controversial and widely considered racist, so which scenario do we find more offensive…owning them as they were made so many years ago, or painting them white?!  Discuss amongst yourselves.

Homecrest!

So what did I get?  Smalls today….pics taken down in the garage dungeon…so, not the best light.

More birdies that are exactly the same as the ones in my dining room.

The CC thinks I’ve lost it with these guys…

Most of these items will not be staying with me, but will be sold at the blogger tag sale on October 1st.  Details to come very soon.  Have a great weekend!
