Flea Market Friday

Happy Weekend! Here’s a quick round up of things we saw today at the Flea Market.

This was a small, child sized Barcelona chair made of plaster. If it were concrete, it might be great for a garden/patio, but I think it would disintegrate…it was already chipping away, but quite a fun find.

Kathy ended up taking this little chrome and faux burl formica gateleg table set for her kids to use for creating and crafting without guilt.

You know you’re getting old when the Zima sign is “vintage”.

Did I find anything? Well, yes I did…..

One eyed baby owl and mama and a likely knockoff Bertoia. Not a bad day.

Flea Market Friday

I couldn’t get this posted on Friday again…sorry!  If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen many of these in real time.

I hit the flea on a gorgeous, not too hot day with Kathy and Melissa, and here’s what we saw!

Big wheel keeps on turnin’………….

Melissa snagged that cute little bar cart.

My coffee table, with a matching side table!

I did find one thing.

Imagine the flame bulbs replaced with opaque round bulbs and a little cleaning and we’re going for a mini version of this look….

My plan is for it to hang over the sink in the new bathroom. BTW, it’s time to grout the tile so I gotta run. Happy Sunday!

Friday Flea

If you keep up with my friends at My Interior Life, Chateau À Gogo and The Insane Domain, then you already know we had fun day at the flea. Sorry I couldn’t get this up for you on Friday as a preview, unless you were following on Instagram in real time.

Here’s what caught my eye.

This velvet sofa was the big regret of the day. One of us should have gotten it, though none of us needed it, it could be a great rehab project. I was too hot to think straight.

This is the piece I almost brought home. So much storage, solid wood, a little dinged, but good lines and fab pulls. Oh well. I went home empty handed this month.

This kinda sums up the South in a very sterotypical way….spicy food, sweet tea and a whole lot of Jesus.

Flea Market Friday

I know, I’m posting it on a Saturday, but I have my reasons. I’ve been running a bit behind schedule ever since my car started giving me attitude. Right as I hop in the car to go hook up with Kathy and Bri at the Flea, I discover that the battery is dead, so no flea for me! Luckily, After failed jumpings, towings and battery replacing, I was back in business by early afternoon so I made it in the end.  You’re welcome.

I saw Rae there and introduced myself, which is always weird because you feel like a stalker when you meet someone whose blog you read, but there it is!

OK, I’ll shut up now and let you preview the flea. It’s April, which is one of the biggest markets all year…both the Swine Barn and the Mule Shed were packed with vendors.

OK, we might have to discuss this one. It was rubbery and bizarre. It was in the same booth as this guy, so…. ’nuff said.

Kathy, I’m sure you saw these…but in case you didn’t…

I loved that dress.  I tried it on over my clothes and it was hard to tell if it would work or not without a mirror or anything. Kinda wishing I had gotten it anyway.

There was a vendor there who only comes once a year, and she had some of the most beautiful textiles.  Turkish woven rugs and suzanis….I wish she would come more often.

There was also a Japanese Maple vendor I hadn’t seen before…beautiful selection.

There were 11 of those chairs earlier in the day.

Did I get anything? Well, I did some shopping for others, which was my main goal, so I can’t reveal those yet just in case the recipients are reading.

However, I did decide I would join the millions who have owned and admired the most famous Chinese lady in the world. I KNOW, but I’ve always loved her, always wanted an old one…. and yesterday was my chance. This Vladimir Tretchikoff is The Chinese Girl aka The Green Lady. I loved reading about how the model and VT met up again 40 years later.

Her frame needs cleaning up, but I’ll get her back in shape and placed somewhere soon.  Have a great weekend!

Flea Market Friday

Ran into Kathy at Gen’s sale (I got some really cute stuff, and YES, her house IS as fab as it looks in pictures) and we decided to hit the flea together!  Here’s what we saw….

These bookends were supposed to be cheaper, or they’d have been mine.  Couldn’t confirm that they were Ben Seibel or not as they had felted the bottoms, but I think they are. The dealer didn’t know anything about them, but she knew they were awesome enough to be $95.

Ben…you should have come home with me at half the price.  I wanted these peachy tables too, but at $135 with chipped laminate all over…I don’t think so.

I had no plans to get anything..I’m up to my ears in projects, but then I saw it…..

What have we here? A vintage barkcloth wall hanging in pristine condition, destined for my dining room. It had 2 labels still on it….

…..and I LOVE it.

I oiled up the wood and hung her immediately. Here’s some detail…

As I walked through the market, several people asked to see what I had rolled up over my shoulder, they all thought it might be a vintage map, but it was SO much better!

I also got these brass tulip candle holders, I don’t know where they are going yet, I’ll have to shuffle some things.

Have a great weekend!!!

Flea Market Friday

The flea was kinda slim on vendors today, but it was a great day out as I had shopping companions!  I met up with Melissa, Brandy, and Kathy for lunch and junkin’ and we saw some things we liked.

It’s true…Long Liyuan just got a bad batch.

Brandy was the lucky gal who took this console home for $10!!!!

So did I get anything? Yes. Remember this from last month?  Mine for $45. I have NO business buying chairs, but you guys remember how I bemoaned it…it was meant to be.

I also got this knock off Panton Moon Lamp. The Things are in LOVE with it of course.

 Have a great weekend!!!
