Estate Sale

Estate sales around here can be pretty disappointing.  If granny chic is your style, this place is a goldmine…but affordable scores can be elusive for me.  So, I was pretty excited to bring home this little stash for $10.

The CC has had his nose in this awesome book since the moment I brought it home. (Think how to make a molded plywood chair kinda awesome.)

I’ve been collecting these Dorothy Thorpe glasses for about 12 years now, but ever since Mad Men featured them... poof! The lamp requires no explanation.

Have a great weekend..go junkin’!

Friday Flea

Not much time for chit chat..let’s just look…

Salterini!

I ‘m really crabby about what happened with this…..

Let’s just say I tried to buy it…but some snot nosed teenager with her mother had it on “HOLD”.  When I came to look at it, they got all possessive and rude. If you want it, BUY IT.  I’m standing here with money to buy NOW.

The whole thing was UNCOOL.  I’ve always liked this vendor too, but I am mad at him right now.  I was nice, but I told him next time, I wasn’t going to let him off so easy…or her for that matter.

So I got this…along with some caladiums.  Gorgeous day despite VKG drama.

Have a great weekend!

Homecrest

Ever since we got this place, I’ve been picking up pieces of vintage Homecrest here and there and beyond.  It’s sturdy, comfortable, stylish, yet plain enough to fit in with everything else I’ve got.  Oh, and the most important thing….it’s still affordable.

Prices have been creeping up, but I’ve managed to get good deals on my pieces so far… they were mass produced so there’s still some product out there.

I have so much fun is looking through their old catalogs online.

What I haven’t been able to find a deal on yet is…….

The Siesta Chaise….I want a pair of these babies for the CC and I to plop our tushes and watch Thing One and Thing Two play Badminton…right?  RIGHT.  Everyone needs a Siesta.

Fun Stuff

The major retailers are rapidly filling up my recycling bin with all the fall catalogs…so I thought it might be fun to share a few things I saw before tossing….

Zig Zag Pillow from UO $32

Pod Table from UO $110

This knock off has been around for years now and I still want one.  Chiasso has one now too, but more expensive.

Furliscious Beanbag from PB Teen $199

Andrew Bannecker printed canvas from UO $48

Wood/Resin Boxes from West Elm $14/$22

Vilmie Blom cushion from Ikea $10!!!

Cachao grellow chair from CB2 $100

Hive Storage unit from CB2 $80

Too bad it takes a lot of these to really make an impact…which makes it too spendy…but I’ve always loved hive shelving.

Saw this in the new Ikea catalog, but it’s not showing up online in their products yet…LOVE it.

While indoor window shopping was nice, I need to get back to work in the 100° sauna. I’m working on another vintage fixer upper for outside, of course.

Slab Happy

I’ve been wanting to incorporate some live edge slabs in here since we bought the place…it just seems to fit…and with these trees toppling around me, sooner or later, one of them might just be the right kind for milling something fab.  I gave up on my dreams of a Nakashima dining table long ago, but have moved on to other slabsessions.

Back when I still read Apartment Therapy, I got all slobbery over this post…especially if I had about $13k laying around.  I’d love to have any of these as my headboard…maybe then we’d finally get our bed off the floor…one can dream.  These first two from Meyer and Wells and Urban Hardwoods are my faves….

Then there’s this one ….

and of course, the classic….

Another avenue is to possibly incorporate a slab in one of the bathroom renovations….the half bath might be the most feasible one.

And remember when I so loved this?

I still do….breakfast bar/backsplash…ahhhh…gorge.

Currently, the only wooden benefit from these trees falling around us is lots of firewood…..and some stumpytime.

We’ve got quite a collection of similar stump stools and tables going now….but it’s the slabs I covet.  One day….
