Sale

I’m going to spend some time this weekend getting some new stuff in the booth since the mall is having a multi-vendor sale.  (25% off all booth 50 items.)  I made up a bunch of tags while watching TV this week so I’m ready to start tagging and dragging downtown.  There’s a new category for the booth so locals can see what’s new.

Got a couple of new lamps going in too.

Have a great weekend!

Neck Saver

Most people would not equate a desk as such…but, given my oh, so, uber-amateur ways…I’ve been blogging from my lap 90% of the time.  About 4 months ago…my neck started to really bother me…shocker!  So, I’ve been on the lookout for a desk to double as a bedside table.  My Kittinger bedside tables were great in my 1912 house…not so much here.  I was looking for a pair of desks, but unless I wanted to go IKEA, I couldn’t find anything that I liked in my budget.  Vintage?  Fahgettahboutit…nada.  Yesterday, my problem was solved!

You see, I’ve also been on the hunt for a groovy bookcase, and finally found one at my mall yesterday.  It needs work (really!?) but I think it’s an easy fix.  Today, I’m heading to a shop that re-canes chairs and hope I can match the cane on the shelf and re-wrap the damaged areas.  In the meantime, I’ll hide the part at the bottom with some file boxes.

I hear ya….What does this have to do with your desk and your neck?  Stay with me….The bookcase replaces a console I had there previously…which is now my desk.  You see I actually have a desk/office area in the kitchen, but it’s become apparent it’s the family desk/landing strip/catch-all.  I can’t work there since the family clutters up the surface daily.  I needed a place that was all mine and cozy.  Until now…that was my favorite chair on the other side of the bedroom.  Great for lounging, not so much for extended computer time.

Now I need to find some great artwork to hang above the desk…restyle the bookshelf 10 times, ya know…the usual stuff.  The egg is on the move again to make way for the desk…in the living room for now…

Lottery Picks

What are the holidays without materialism, greed and good old fashioned “gimme, gimme”?  In keeping with the spirit, I have not just one lottery pick, but instead spent far too long on 1st Dibs pretending money is no object…enjoy!

1st dibs rennaisance man $2500gregorypeacocks2

Waylande Gregory Peacocks …yes, birds…these lovelies are $2500.

1st dibs chrome austrian lamp

Kalmar Lamp….”Contact Dealer”  …If you have to ask…you can’t afford it.

karl springer stools_1

Karl Springer laquered goatskin stools….again, “Contact Dealer”

schneider french crystal lamp $3600

Schneider crystal lamp….only $3600.

XXX_sol_bloom_scoop chairs $2800

Sol Bloom scoop chairs…$2800.

quartz lamps $16000

Madagascar/Stuppel quartz lamp pair …$16,000.  No, that extra zero is not a typo.

lane cubist laquer cabinet $3200 danenberg

Cubist lacquer cabinet …$3200…I actually think one could find this piece at an estate sale one day…it’s Lane!  I imagine seeing it, unlacquered and covered with mildew in a corner marked $250.  I’ll be there waiting.

Firewood Fashions

It’s really cold today and I’m thinking fire.  I’ve been looking for something attractive to keep the firewood contained indoors….

dwr firewood fab_2

I LOVE THAT.  Lurv it sumtin’ awful.

No idea who/where/how…I tore it out of a DWR catalog ages ago…probably a custom job.

UPDATE: Finally figured out it’s by Olle Lundberg in his California cabin.

When the CC gets comfortable with his welding, maybe this can be the ultimate project?  Although, that’s a lot of heavy metal…I don’t really think that’s DIYable for us.  Paying a metalsmith to make it sounds great, but it will probably be $1000…so…dream on….

475_ftf log holder remodelista

This is cool….but, since I’m too cheap to pay $475 for it on Remodelista, maybe we can mold some lucite in the same shape…we’ve had success with lucite molding in the past (with the heat gun-not the crafty one, the real one that peels paint).  It would have to be thicker than anything we’ve done before though….hmmmm…

Bebop+Wood+Basket all modern 355

This doesn’t look like it holds enough wood to get through one night.  I want something that can hold 2-3 evenings worth so when it’s raining, you don’t have to drag in wood from the wet.  Blomus for a mere $355….ouch!

conran spirograph basket $95

This is nice…and only $95, but again, impractical b/c logs drop stuff. Lots of little bits of dust and wood shreds.   I’d have to vacuum under it daily.  For outdoors…great, but I’ve got that covered.

creative-firewood-holders-by-ak47-design-1I’m sorry, but I think this is just stupid….uncomfortable and stupid.  You can’t keep the same wood in there because of bugs, you’d have to rebuild your chaise every time you had a fire.  Really, AK47.

$15 bin from Lowes

Fugly.  But it’s all I got, so I guess I’ll just stick with this $15 bin from Lowes until we fire up the heat gun and see what happens in lucite land…..
