Tag Sale!

I just returned to Nashvegas last night after being MIA for a few weeks… I’ll update you soon, but I needed to pop in and tell you locals about Brandy and Melissa’s tag sale this weekend!  You might know them better as Chateau À Gogo and The Insane Domain, and if you click through to their blogs, you’ll see previews of a lot of the great items they will have up for sale!

Bar carts, lamps, pillows…both vintage and newer items…looks like there will be some really good stuff!  These ladies have great style!  They are also cool, nice chicks that I’ve loved getting to know over the last several months, and who I’m proud to call my friends, so shop on decoristas….See you there!

I Hear You + Estate Sale

Thanks to all who provided feedback on the media integration conundrum. Here’s the new plan. I’m ditching the Tweets of the Week import, and for those who like seeing the tweets, but would rather stick a fork in their eye than go onto Twitter, I now have a running sidebar underneath the Instagram photos here on the blahg. (Thinking of you Nannie Annie!) Sound like a fair compromise? Just scroll down on the right and it’s all there.

You would like to see some of the Instagram photos in posts, so I’ll share those here from time to time.

Moving on from housekeeping, I went to an estate sale in Franklin yesterday, and everything I had my eye on was sold…to Justin.

Who is this Justin you ask? I don’t know, but he has fabulous taste and I think he needs to be my friend. I was eying every male up and down at the sale trying to figure out which one he was, so I could possibly beg him to let me buy this off of him.

It’s a terrible shot from the sale website, I tried to snap one myself from his “sold” pile, but it was wedged behind a chair, this was the best I could do without looking like I was flat out trying to steal it.

Those eyes were meant to scare MY children. Does Justin have kids? Is it sitting in his antique booth somewhere in the metro area?

Lucky for me, there were SO many owls in this house that Justin missed a couple.

The day before, Modernhaus posted her new vintage owl and I was smitten and envious. How crazy that I find his little brother the very next day? Crazy, I tell you.

Oh, and this little fiber thang, that is indeed the abomination that I predicted it would be in the eyes of the CC.

He hates it. He likes minimal, not boho. I quote, “It’s not concrete, steel or glass…humph.” Then there might have been some muttering.

So if I wanna keep it, I need to find a place for it that is not in his daily line of vision. I may end up selling it, we’ll see how his tolerance holds out.

Have a great weekend!

Flea Market Friday

I know, I’m posting it on a Saturday, but I have my reasons. I’ve been running a bit behind schedule ever since my car started giving me attitude. Right as I hop in the car to go hook up with Kathy and Bri at the Flea, I discover that the battery is dead, so no flea for me! Luckily, After failed jumpings, towings and battery replacing, I was back in business by early afternoon so I made it in the end.  You’re welcome.

I saw Rae there and introduced myself, which is always weird because you feel like a stalker when you meet someone whose blog you read, but there it is!

OK, I’ll shut up now and let you preview the flea. It’s April, which is one of the biggest markets all year…both the Swine Barn and the Mule Shed were packed with vendors.

OK, we might have to discuss this one. It was rubbery and bizarre. It was in the same booth as this guy, so…. ’nuff said.

Kathy, I’m sure you saw these…but in case you didn’t…

I loved that dress.  I tried it on over my clothes and it was hard to tell if it would work or not without a mirror or anything. Kinda wishing I had gotten it anyway.

There was a vendor there who only comes once a year, and she had some of the most beautiful textiles.  Turkish woven rugs and suzanis….I wish she would come more often.

There was also a Japanese Maple vendor I hadn’t seen before…beautiful selection.

There were 11 of those chairs earlier in the day.

Did I get anything? Well, I did some shopping for others, which was my main goal, so I can’t reveal those yet just in case the recipients are reading.

However, I did decide I would join the millions who have owned and admired the most famous Chinese lady in the world. I KNOW, but I’ve always loved her, always wanted an old one…. and yesterday was my chance. This Vladimir Tretchikoff is The Chinese Girl aka The Green Lady. I loved reading about how the model and VT met up again 40 years later.

Her frame needs cleaning up, but I’ll get her back in shape and placed somewhere soon.  Have a great weekend!

Craigstweeting

While Craigstweeting today, I found something I couldn’t resist.

WHAT?! More chairs? Ummm…Yes.

*holds head in shame*

As for rehab- it’s mostly surface rust, so I brought out my trusty and crusty friends to help.

Once I got to work, I found a few spots that required the cola treatment. Sigh. That just added another hour to the job. The not-leather, but pleather had only one tiny nick on the backside, so yeah for that!

They cleaned up pretty well!

Currently, they are in the dining room heading up the table. I’ve now got my Burke/Saarinen knock offs as side chairs ever since the galvanized ones have moved outside.

I’ve been hunting for the perfect set of 8 Baughman beauties for almost 2 years now, but those don’t come cheap, so patience is been a virtue I must pretend to have.

Have a great weekend!

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that while I was in Brimfield last Summer, I fell for a pair of these, but they were $495 for the pair.

Lightcube

While ogling the garden section in Lowe’s a few weeks ago, I happened across a little item that will be making our summer much groovier…the solar LED lightcube.

I always wanted a Toto, or those amazing Oluce glowing stones for the yard, and this combines both functions for $50 rather than $500.

The CC is quite cynical about ALL solar lighting. He was secretly thinking that I had just made a really stupid purchase. To look at it, you might agree and think it’s just a smallish white cube with no hope of doing anything.

It has a solar charger that plugs in underneath.

Charge it for a few hours, and when night falls….you punch the little button underneath and…..

…. IT WORKS! Such a nice bright glow from the LED…there is some light love afoot my friends. How do I know the CC has forgiven me, and might even approve of this purchase? He brought it up to the treehouse for our sleepover Saturday night. You worked your way into his solar hatin’ heart Mr. Cube, and I think we will all enjoy each other very much.

For those who prefer a more rotund lighting friend, might I suggest Ms. Sphere, or their cousin, Master Planter/ Ice Bucket.

Happy patio planning!

Flea Market Friday

Ran into Kathy at Gen’s sale (I got some really cute stuff, and YES, her house IS as fab as it looks in pictures) and we decided to hit the flea together!  Here’s what we saw….

These bookends were supposed to be cheaper, or they’d have been mine.  Couldn’t confirm that they were Ben Seibel or not as they had felted the bottoms, but I think they are. The dealer didn’t know anything about them, but she knew they were awesome enough to be $95.

Ben…you should have come home with me at half the price.  I wanted these peachy tables too, but at $135 with chipped laminate all over…I don’t think so.

I had no plans to get anything..I’m up to my ears in projects, but then I saw it…..

What have we here? A vintage barkcloth wall hanging in pristine condition, destined for my dining room. It had 2 labels still on it….

…..and I LOVE it.

I oiled up the wood and hung her immediately. Here’s some detail…

As I walked through the market, several people asked to see what I had rolled up over my shoulder, they all thought it might be a vintage map, but it was SO much better!

I also got these brass tulip candle holders, I don’t know where they are going yet, I’ll have to shuffle some things.

Have a great weekend!!!
